I love this hat !!!!!

Now that everything is out of the boxes and that my yarn is my studio/bedroom and that my Japanese crochet books are in display on my bookcases …… well, I feel really happy !!!!! ;oD I started to browse (again!) my lovely books and looking at my yarn stash I thought I was ready to experiment again with some Japanese crochet charts …. …. In this book, I found a cheerful pattern …. …. a happy hat, with some granny squares (easy), some lace (light) and a string with 2 pom poms at its ends …. obviously, this pattern (pattern name : Colorful motif Cap ) was calling my name out loudly !!! While choosing the colours, I decided that my hat has to be C-O-L-O-U-R-F-U-L, so no white was selected, but instead some bright pink and blue, purple, caramel and mint green ! With a 3,5mm hook, I began with the squares …. When the 6 required granny squares were completed, I noticed that they were not big as the ones on the book pictures (and I have a head circumference of 56...

Just for fun ….

…. Pick one of your japanese crochet books ….. …. and choose a very simple pattern, easy to follow when you seat on the couch in the evenings after dinner time …. Good!!! Now collect the right hook (4mm) for the suitable yarn ( ROBIN, Double Knit 100% acrylic, 500 gr, shade 1797, lot 786, product code 1467) and start to crochet, with your feet up….. … at the beginning it seems to work a flower … …. but after few rows, you start to see the scarf in progress …. ….. and when you reach the end ( for me after 187 rows,  for the pattern after 107! ), you may think that you would love to give the scarf a personal touch, just a little one….. …. as a "border" ( to reinforce the sides) of slip stitches, with a bright and contrasting colour ( Filati da Collezione "Merinella", colour 36 lot 110, 80% wool and 20% polyamide )…. front of the work back of the work …. and then you choose that tassels (made wrapping the yarn 50 ...

A new shawl !!!!

I was browsing through one of my Japanese crochet books and I found this chart …. …. this was meant for a part of a blouse I was not interested in (!!!!) , but I loved the idea to use it for a new shawl, designed by me !!!! I've been using some Sirdar Wash'n'Wear DK Double Crepe (shade 0282/lot 126292 grey and shade 0251/dye 109925 white ) with a 4mm hook. My foundation chain was of 99 chains ( you have to consider that 12 chains stand for one triangle), so I did 12x8 triangles +3 ( this is the equivalent of your first double crochet, US crochet terms !) = 99 !!! This is what I got : Some details of both edgings (yes, not only one!) ….. For the pom pom edge look  HERE For the pointy edge, inspiration from  HERE I didn't follow any precise idea, the shawl just developed row by row following the inspiration of the moment !!! I started my work using a lot of grey and I completed it with alternating stripes of white and gre...
