to open or not to open....

....an online shop?????????
I would love, but it seems too complicated.....
....the shipping time, from postal office regular services, at least takes two weeks...
.....that can be shortened in one week (express solution), but the prices are 10 times more!!!

....WHAT ?????

I don't want, at the moment, to organize or to participate in bazaars....too stressful....
....but I'm crafting a lot lately and my cupboards can hardly be closed properly.....!!!

Any good advice????
I can't ask for postal fees that are more expensive than my own products!!!!
If you buy something, is it acceptable to wait for your purchased item/s more than 2 weeks???

I'm so confused....
but I continue to craft and to take pictures of my little handmade things...we'll see!!!

  2. Hey Alessandra - I've come out of holiday-hibernation to tell you that of course you should sell online!! People will always wait to receive a handmade item because it's special in the first place :)

Crochet items are so easy to post, and with your great photography skills you are onto a winner :D I find bazaars very stressful too which is why I'm concetrating on online sales too at the moment (plus a little on retail outlets).

Why not give it a try - you will enjoy it! (If you need any help/advice, you know I will be more than happy to give it!)

  3. Hi dear Alessandra, You always make very pretty crochets and these hearts are so so cute.. The next time I will try to use gray color for my crochet things.. Gray seems so pretty..:))

  4. Well, I guess you could try it and if you see that people are willing to pay the shipping fees to buy your products, why not?
I love the hearts by the way!

  5. No harm in giving it a try. It would be more fun than creating and stuffing your cupboards. People don't mind paying for shipping. And this is a good time since its holiday season in half of the world. I would suggest to start right away. :)

  6. So fun that you are thinking of opening a shop! I don't think a 2 week wait time is long at all. I agree that with the holiday season coming, it could be a really great time to start. I think it is the kind of thing you just have to jump into and learn as you go. You'll figure it out... :)

  7. You could try it out to see how it goes, and if it doesn't work out - at least you tried. Good luck to you. :)

  8. I have waited for things for 2 weeks...I think you should go for it and see what happens...you may be very pleasantly surprised...especially this time of year with Christmas so close. xoxox Your work is amazing.

  9. Hello,
Of course you should open an online business! If you are concerned about people reactions about a bit long waiting for the item just put a line in your shop description that due to the place you live the postage may take around 2 weeks - I don't think people will be bothered with that :)

  10. I don't think people will mind the wait, just make sure they know how long it takes! I wish you lived next door, I've got a bit of cupboard space, just as long as you don't mind me keep taking them out to admire! Ada :)

  11. Alessandra, I think waiting is not an issue. If someone order from there, usually know that she will have to wait.

  12. I definitely agree with the others. If you think it's something you want to try, why not give the on-line thing a go? Can't hurt to try, right?

Best of luck with this decision!

  13. I agree with the others. See how it goes!! (And you could always report back since there may be other people thinking about the same thing!) :) If you decide yes, best of luck, I'm sure you'd do great!

Make it ! Knitted triangular scarf !!!

Last December, I saw a very simple and cute scarf knitted by Angie ( le monde de sucrette) and I thought to knit one for me, too, but then I was busy with the gifts to prepare for family and friends back in Italy .... so nothing was done for me!!! Luckily, some days ago, while browsing through my blogs list, I found a post from Ilaria ( IDA interior lifestyle) , who was proposing the same (she added a pompom!) piece of clothing .... I didn't have any excuse to wait longer for knitting my own triangular scarf!!!! ;oD So, I started .... Do you want to start one, too ??? Well, you need : some yarn ! My personal choice was : Lana Grossa Basics Calmo (59% acrylic, 24% cotton and 17% linen), shade 207. All my 4 balls of yarn (50g each) have been used for this project. Then 2 balls (50g each) from Rowan Classic Cotton Jeans Yarn (100% cotton), shade 365-Sierra, for both stripes and tassels! a pair of 4,5mm  knitting circular needles or, if you prefer, a pair of long ...

Make it ! The Granny Yarn Chain !!!

ARE YOU READY FOR THIS ???? SURE YOU ARE !!! I now that!!!! ;oD So during this last week I was showing you via Instagram (see  my personal feed ) some colourful pictures about my new crochet w.i.p. , which I completed last night ... ... so this morning, before school/office time a couple of boys helped me with the last photos for this blog post ... TA-DAH ... The beauty of this project resides in the fact that is adaptable to any extent, any kind of yarn and any corner of your home (in or out!) !!! The inspiration and "creative kick" derives from two other projects I've seen around :  The Chain Statement Necklace  by my dear friend Miki from  Set Free My Gypsy Soul  and  Peggy's Comfy Indoors Blanket  by Pip Lincoln from  Meet Me at Mike's  !!! Thank you both, girls !!! It has been a long time since I've been wanting to crochet (or even knit !) a paper chain ... I made some long paper chains for our Christmas tree back in ...

Make it ! The Granny Bunny !!!

You know, this picture from my  Instagram feed  has collected more than 900 likes ... ... and a colourful crocheter named Karin @woolfieber , made her own version just looking at my pic (you can find her work  HERE  ) !!!! My idea, since the beginning , was to prepare a photo tutorial for you, but do you really need one ? These Granny Bunnies are so easy to crochet, believe me !!!! YOU NEED : some colourful mercerised cotton a 3,5 mm hook a pair of scissors a tapestry needle beads for embellishments (optional) Please note that I follow the US crochet terminology, thank you ! Each bunny measures 13 cm in height and it can be used for different purposes : bunting, hanging decorations, appliques, brooches, on napkin rings and more !!!! The sky's the limit !!! You can use this pattern even with different yarns and, consequently, hook sizes !!! ;oD Abbreviations : DC = double crochet ch = chain SC = single crochet 2SCtog = 2...
