….. It has been a long time without a patterns or photo tutorials from me…. Sorry for that, but I didn't have honestly the time or the mind set for all that !!!! ;oD Today I can show you what happened to my  colourful and stripy piece of fabric  …… … Yes !!!! It turned out as a bright and cheerful placemat ( Tobia and Matteo want one both!) …. I didn't put down a proper pattern to follow, but I can give you some directions, if interested !!! Using a 2,5 mm hook, I decided to chain 110 chains+3 more (as my first double crochet for the beginning of the first row) for the foundation row and the first 2 rows (in red) are made of double crochets (please remember that I follow US crochet terminology!). Then I added pink at the beginning of the 3rd row (without cutting the red thread) : with this colour, instead, I worked 2 rows of single crochets. At the end of the 4th row, I cut the pink thread and reused the red one, working other 2 more rows of double crochets! The...

…. My first huge project has been completed the day before yesterday afternoon !!!!! Ok, this is not the first blanket I made ( remember this  one  ?), but this is THE BIG ONE, that challenged me for almost one year ( started on the 5th of May 2013/ completed on the 13 of March 2014 !!!!)…. In my  last post  about the blanket, I showed it without any border, but now I can !!! ;oD Sorry, my boys were still in school when I was taking these new pictures, so they couldn't help me in the showing off!!!!! Obviously, there are more photos about the completed work and I'll post them at the end of this presentation. Now, I'm really interested in explaining what I did to crochet my simple border, which consists of two rounds of acrylic/cotton yarns ( for each round I have been working with 2 contrasting colour strands together), crocheted with a 4mm hook. ….. is "all" done ( still missing a border! ;oD ) !!!!!!! At the moment, it measures approx 2,60cmX1,60cm…. It consists of 116 rows ( and each row has 168 shells!) of 3 DCs shells and of 116 anchor rows…. I've selected 33 colours for this project ( remember that I didn't use new yarns, because I was trying to reduce my yarn stash, so when a colour was finished, I had to find a similar one!!!!), so I repeated my stripes scheme 7 times…. I decided to keep all the threads at the sides of the blanket, most probably because I'm lazy, but I thought I could use them while completing the border ( a very simple one I admit!) ….
