A diamonds panel with gnomes !!!

I left you, some days ago, with an "unfinished business" (here)....

But everything is done now!!!

I don't know you, but I cannot find a joining method that I really like for diamonds. I've been browsing around, via Pinterest and various blogs, but nothing really convinces me ... I think that next time I'm going to use diamonds, I will finish them with a round of single crochets (US crochet terminology!) and then I will join them with a simple whip stitch, maybe in contrasting colour ... will see !

This time, btw, I decided to leave the edges of my diamonds rough and I joined them with slip stitches .... there is a little bit of overlapping, but this creates some 3D effect that I don't dislike ....

When all sewn/crocheted together, this is what I got ...

Then, I collected a wooden rod and some bits&bobs from my box of crochet/knitting tries and I made a panel of colourful diamonds ....

I've added some gnomes to embellish it!!!

I've decided to put this panel on a big standing lamp in our living room ....

.... I was too lazy to hammer a couple of nails in the wall!!! ;oD

No worries if ….

….. You will not hear from me for some days …..

…. because yesterday afternoon, a truck just brought us our "CAPITAL" (aka our stuff from Indonesia!) ….

…. I don't know what to scream : YEAH !!!!!! or AAARGHHHHH !!!!! …… ?????…… ;oD

….so now I'm unpacking some boxes ….. HOME SWEET HOME, very soon …. I hope !!!!

This morning...

…. a 'little' man woke up and he was no more 11, but 12 …… !!!!!! …..

….. and for the very first time, Tobia did read the cards written by his father and me….
He was deeply moved…. just imagine myself !!!!!!

A thunderstorm is coming …..

….. so some wind has scattered some leaves around, mostly in the swimming pool ….

…. now, while writing this post, the sky is really dark and it's raining cats and dogs !!!!!

…. I crocheted few rows of my blanket-to-be….

….. a growing beauty…. well, at least for me!!!!! ;oD

A friend of mine had her birthday, so I decorated her present with a granny circle "home sweet home" and a teeny-tiny heart ….

…. just simple things, that made me smile!!!

"HELLO !" sign : DONE !!!

I've promised you a post at the beginning of the week, but the working and final touches took more time than expected…. sorry !!!

…. and for the ribbons….

…. to wrap around metallic hangers…

Each time one hanger was ready ( the glue had to dry properly), I attached one letter to it using the "join-as-you-go" method…

Few days ago all the letters were ready…

…. and they were patiently waiting for the right moment to be hanged at the entrance wall….

…. so, this morning, I kindly asked my husband to hammer some nails in the wall….

…the light was not yet good to take quality pictures, but I didn't want to wait anymore!!!!

…. just to give you an idea of their dimensions….

…. some pompoms and a "!" were mandatory…..

This project was really simple :

•  5mm hook
• some colourful yarns (acrylic worked well for me), to crochet 5 rounds granny squares (total : 47)
• join as you go method, used to attach each granny square to another and to join the letters to the hangers
• a pair of scissors
• a yarn needle
• 5 metallic hangers
• ribbons to wrap around hangers
• some extra yarns to crochet the borders for each letter (just a round of US single crochets)
• one pom pom maker
• glue
• clear fishing line to fix the "E" and both "L"s and to attach the dot of the exclamation mark!!!!
• nails and hammer
• THAT'S ALL !!!!!
