....After a long while, a new postcard for you all!!!
I had in mind this special person since the beginning of the year, but I started to crochet him only a couple of days ago ...
... I was too scared to make him ridiculous and it was not my intention, but the design for My Little Crowd is intended to be naïve, so here what I made :
more details ...
... and the postcard I'm sending to you ...
... that matches perfectly another quote from the Mahatma "In a gentle way, you can shake the world".

A diamonds panel with gnomes !!!
I left you, some days ago, with an "unfinished business" (here)....
But everything is done now!!!
I don't know you, but I cannot find a joining method that I really like for diamonds. I've been browsing around, via Pinterest and various blogs, but nothing really convinces me ... I think that next time I'm going to use diamonds, I will finish them with a round of single crochets (US crochet terminology!) and then I will join them with a simple whip stitch, maybe in contrasting colour ... will see !
This time, btw, I decided to leave the edges of my diamonds rough and I joined them with slip stitches .... there is a little bit of overlapping, but this creates some 3D effect that I don't dislike ....
When all sewn/crocheted together, this is what I got ...
Then, I collected a wooden rod and some bits&bobs from my box of crochet/knitting tries and I made a panel of colourful diamonds ....
a close up at the not small details (!!!) ...
I've added some gnomes to embellish it!!!
You can find the directions to crochet them right HERE !!!!
I've decided to put this panel on a big standing lamp in our living room ....
.... I was too lazy to hammer a couple of nails in the wall!!! ;oD

Playing with diamonds ....
I've been using this shape in crochet before (HERE) and I wrote a knitting pattern (HERE), but then nothing more....
But on Instagram, because Ashley from Lazy Daisy Jones hosted #ldjcrochethookup in April, I had the occasion to use diamonds again!!!
In fact, one day, all the participants had to show a crochet toy, but I didn't have one, as I always knitted all the softies I've done along the last ten years.... so, what to do???
I opted for a simple thing as a "lovey security blanket"(a very quick project, made in one afternoon!!), resembling "The Frog Prince" by Brothers Grimm ...
I had to crochet 8 diamonds in half double crochet stitches (I was following the pattern found on "500 crochet blocks" by Hannah Elgie and Kath Webber), sewn together with a simple over stitch.
I avoided the amigurumi technique to crochet the frog face and I opted for a classic circle (made of 4 rounds) in half double crochet stitches.
The crown was shaped on, once the two circles of the face were joined together with single crochets all around.
I like to keep things simple and I just added some little bells to embellish the royal frog!
After this toy, I made something else out of diamonds!!!!
My son Tobia loves lions a lot, but he doesn't have anymore the age for softies or similar, so I decided to crochet a practical thing, instead...
Luckily he is a good reader, so I decided to craft a lion bookmark, with a pair of moustache...
In this case, the diamond doesn't have the points at both edges, but the pattern is still that one!!
I had fun in making the mane out of chains and the moustache, I think, it's a nice touch!!
Something else, still diamonds related, is on my table right now ....
.... what will it be????

Postcards from My Little Crowd© : LOVE, #6
It has been a while since my last postcard (here) , so thankfully to Valentine's Day, I have a good excuse to send you a new one ...
... and this sweet girl is really eager to spread the love, even her own hair has the shape (top part) of mini hearts ...
.... and the bunting or even the pink heart on her dress are really good to underline her love wish ...
I think that Albert Camus was right when saying " I know of one duty, and that is to love", but to love others you have first to love yourself ....
Love yourself and the rest will follow !! Happy Valentine's Day to you all !!!
