MAKE IT ! PEPPERMINT TRIO ORNAMENTS !!!

I really love Christmas time and I love to design decorations for this period of the year!!!

I have still some more to show you before the arrival of Christmas Day and I really hope I will be able to do so !!

Anyway, today I have a trio of small ornaments (or parcel tags?) to share with you all, hoping you will love them as much as I do!

Ready?

WHAT YOU NEED

Small amounts of sparkling yarns ! I`ve been using some leftovers found in my stash, from James C. Brett Twinkle fashion DK and Knitcraft Baby Brilliance DK. You need at least three different colours for a bauble!

4mm hook

scissors/ yarn needle

baker`s twine

I follow the US crochet terminology.

You need to know how to carry on the unused yarn as in tapestry crochet and how/when to change colour while working the peppermint circle (first two rounds of the pattern).

The initial 2ch at the beginning of each round is never considered as a stitch!

The ROUND PEPPERMINT Ornament

For this ornament I`ve been using red, silver and hot pink. Obviously, you don`t have to replicate the same colours and instead use what really suits your own taste!

With red yarn chain 4, slip stitch (sl st) in 1st chain to form a ring.

Round 1: 2ch, 2hDC and change colour to silver in last st draw (you start to carry yarn as in traditional tapestry crochet), 2hDC in silver and change colour to red in last st draw, 2hDC in red and change colour to silver in last st draw, 2hDC in silver and change colour to red in last st draw, 2hDC in red and change colour to silver in last st draw, 2hDC in silver and change colour to red in last st draw, sl st in top of initial 2ch. [12 sts]

Round 2: 2ch, [(2hDC in red in next st) twice and change colour to silver in last st draw, (2hDC in silver in next st) twice and change colour to red in last st draw] 3 times, sl st in top of initial 2ch and pull in new colour (hot pink) and break both red and silver yarns. [24 sts]

Round 3: 2ch, (6DC in back loops only, 2ch) four times, sl st in top of initial 2ch.

Round 4: 2ch, [6DC, (1DC, 2ch, 1DC) in corner] four times, sl st in top of initial 2ch.

Round 5: 3sl st, 3ch and sl st in the same space of last one, 7ch, sl st in next st, 3 ch and sl st in same space of last one, 3sl st, [1sl st, 3ch and sl st in 1st ch (= picot), 1sl st] in corner, [4sl st, 3ch and sl st in same space of last one, 7ch, sl st in next space, 3ch and sl st in same space of last one, 3sl st, (1sl st, picot, 1sl st) in corner] three times, sl st in top of DC (just before the initial 2ch!).

Fasten off and weave in ends.

The DROP PEPPERMINT Ornament

The centre of the ornament is worked using both green and silver, while the third colour is aqua.

With green yarn chain 4, slip stitch (sl st) in 1st chain to form a ring.

Rounds 1, 2 and 3: as in previous ornament.

Round 4: 2ch, [1DC, 1hDC, 2sc, 1hDC, 1DC, (1Tr, 3ch, 1Tr) in corner] twice, 1Tr, 2DC, 2hDC, 1sc, 2sc in corner, 1sc, 2hDC, 2DC, 1Tr, (1Tr, 3ch, 1Tr)in corner, sl st in top of initial 2c.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

The DIAMOND PEPPERMINT Ornament

This time the centre is worked using hot pink and aqua, while the main body is in red.

With pink yarn chain 4, slip stitch (sl st) in 1st chain to form a ring.

Rounds 1, 2 and 3: as previous ornaments!

Round 4: 3ch, [1Tr, 2DC, 2hDC, 1sc, 3sc in corner, 1sc, 2hDC, 2DC, 1Tr, (2Tr, 3ch, 2Tr) in corner] twice, sl st in initial 3ch.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

FOR ALL ORNAMENTS : in order to hang them on a tree or another place, simply cut strings of needed length from baker`s twine and knot them to your ornaments!

Did you love them??? I really love to hear from you!!!

Make it ! Knitted triangular scarf !!!

Last December, I saw a very simple and cute scarf knitted by Angie ( le monde de sucrette) and I thought to knit one for me, too, but then I was busy with the gifts to prepare for family and friends back in Italy .... so nothing was done for me!!! Luckily, some days ago, while browsing through my blogs list, I found a post from Ilaria ( IDA interior lifestyle) , who was proposing the same (she added a pompom!) piece of clothing .... I didn't have any excuse to wait longer for knitting my own triangular scarf!!!! ;oD So, I started .... Do you want to start one, too ??? Well, you need : some yarn ! My personal choice was : Lana Grossa Basics Calmo (59% acrylic, 24% cotton and 17% linen), shade 207. All my 4 balls of yarn (50g each) have been used for this project. Then 2 balls (50g each) from Rowan Classic Cotton Jeans Yarn (100% cotton), shade 365-Sierra, for both stripes and tassels! a pair of 4,5mm  knitting circular needles or, if you prefer, a pair of long ...

Make it ! The Granny Yarn Chain !!!

ARE YOU READY FOR THIS ???? SURE YOU ARE !!! I now that!!!! ;oD So during this last week I was showing you via Instagram (see  my personal feed ) some colourful pictures about my new crochet w.i.p. , which I completed last night ... ... so this morning, before school/office time a couple of boys helped me with the last photos for this blog post ... TA-DAH ... The beauty of this project resides in the fact that is adaptable to any extent, any kind of yarn and any corner of your home (in or out!) !!! The inspiration and "creative kick" derives from two other projects I've seen around :  The Chain Statement Necklace  by my dear friend Miki from  Set Free My Gypsy Soul  and  Peggy's Comfy Indoors Blanket  by Pip Lincoln from  Meet Me at Mike's  !!! Thank you both, girls !!! It has been a long time since I've been wanting to crochet (or even knit !) a paper chain ... I made some long paper chains for our Christmas tree back in ...

Make it ! The Granny Bunny !!!

You know, this picture from my  Instagram feed  has collected more than 900 likes ... ... and a colourful crocheter named Karin @woolfieber , made her own version just looking at my pic (you can find her work  HERE  ) !!!! My idea, since the beginning , was to prepare a photo tutorial for you, but do you really need one ? These Granny Bunnies are so easy to crochet, believe me !!!! YOU NEED : some colourful mercerised cotton a 3,5 mm hook a pair of scissors a tapestry needle beads for embellishments (optional) Please note that I follow the US crochet terminology, thank you ! Each bunny measures 13 cm in height and it can be used for different purposes : bunting, hanging decorations, appliques, brooches, on napkin rings and more !!!! The sky's the limit !!! You can use this pattern even with different yarns and, consequently, hook sizes !!! ;oD Abbreviations : DC = double crochet ch = chain SC = single crochet 2SCtog = 2...
