The original pattern was calling for fringes….
…. So I started with the first one at the bottom …
…. and from the base to the top, I went on adding fringes…..
…each time I knotted one, I just combed it and then trimmed the ends!!!
The fringes are almost 20cm long and when all done, this was the result ….
…. but….. for me was not yet done !!!!!
So I started to add some tiny pompoms, just to give to the shawl a more ethnic feeling, you know…
…. and I continued to add them ….
…. After having 15 pompoms, I was finally happy with my work… YAY! …..
Yesterday morning, I took the shawl out in our garden ( no rain!!!!!!) ….
…. and my husband generously accepted to model it, with the promise that I had no intention to take pictures of his head/face…
…. and this is the pin that I'm going to use with my shawl : the face pictured on is mine, from ages ago ….. !!!!! ….
…. still my model in action…
and to simply savour the 3D effect given by pompoms and the ridges, I took a couple of extra pics ….
….. well, now is time to hear from you ladies!!!!! ;oD

Dear Ale,
ReplyDeleteOnce more you've exceeded yourself. The colours are great, the fringes are fringy, the pompoms sing their own song. Can't you hear them? I absolutely adore your two last pictures with the pom pom 3D effect!!!
And your husband: such a good, gentle model. (I'm sure I could never ever persuade my husband to do such a thing).
By the way, did you get your shawl back or did your husband wear it all day long?
Have a nice week!
Hi Brigitte!!!!

Hi Dorothy!!!
Deletethank you for all your kind comments about my shawl!!!!!
lovely weekend to you too, xxxxx Ale
I have never seen another shawl made with this pattern, and yours is gorgeous! I prefer your color to the colors used in the shawl pictured in the original pattern. You took what I thought was kinda 'blah' to beautiful! The pom poms you added are a great personal touch!! Your husband is a good sport, holding the shawl for you so you could take pictures for your big reveal! Your "ta da"! Good job!
ReplyDeleteHi Maschelle!!!! You've just left a very enthusiastic comment about this shawl that I'm very overwhelmed !!!! Thank you soooooo much my dear!!!! Yes, my husband has been really nice in helping me with the pics !!!! ;oD
