My first shawl ever !!!

While browsing this Japanese crochet book…


… I had a crash for this "starry sky" (this is what my eyes see!!!) shawl…


….. may I have a try ?????
I never crocheted something so serious like a piece of garment (apart from some easy scarves!)…… I was thinking….. I was scared….
…..but the chart was showing simple stitches and I had the right yarn to use for this new adventure !!!

….and yes, I have dared!!!!! Yippie!!!!!


The first star was really simple (is the one at the base of the shawl!), so I decided to crochet more stars….




…..I just loved to work on this satisfying project and I really liked to see the shawl growing little by little….


….and yesterday night I could see it finished!!!!!!!
This morning I had a little time to take some photos of the final product outside in the garden, where the sun was shining (right now, instead, it's raining cats and dogs : wet season!!!!)…..








The fact is that now I need to block it…..any suggestions???? The yarns used are 100% acrylic, so what is the better way to beautify these lovely stars??? Thank you for any tip you will offer me!!!

This will be a Christmas gift for….I cannot say it, even tough the recipient is not a regular reader of my blog, but you never know, right?

My "dummy lady" kindly offered herself to model the shawl for the last pics…

    Such an elegant shawl it is! I too love Japanese patterns but the motifs are not an easy task as there are so many ends to sew in.. But the end result is wonderful :)

    Oh lovely, that Japanese book looks fabulous, completely different to the stuff you get over here (bored of Simply Crochet now!). I would just block it gently because it looks so delicate, just stretch it out, spray with warm water and leave to dry in the sun - those stars are bellissimo xx

    Just lovely Ale!! If you don't have some sort of board that you can pin into, I would suggest putting a towel on your bed, spraying your shawl with water, pinning it out on the towel and letting it dry for several hours. Good luck!

    I've never blocked anything like this shawl and star motifs before and the only thing I can suggest is to use a COOL iron to press is...make sure that you have it on a low setting though. I have used a cool iron and pressed acrylic crocheted baby blankets before and it seemed to work for that. Good luck and your shawl is beautiful! I love your colors too! What yarn and what size hook did you use? :)

Ti è venuto bellissimo !Che signora fortunata quella che riceverà il magnifico cielo stellato !Lo trovo davvero perfetto e raffinato , credo che non gli manchi niente , al massimo potresti aggiungere un fiorellino in fondo , dove chiudi il lavoro.Io non uso mai l'acrilico , di solito cerco un misto , mi sembra che a lungo andare sia migliore e dato il lavoraccio, mi dispiacerebbe vedere il lavoro sciupato per i lavaggi ,ma magari mi sbaglio, fammi sapere se la tua esperienza è diversa !Che bella la vegetazione del tuo giardino , anche se piove, sembra tutto verdissimo !Ti auguro una bellissima domenica con la tua famiglia .Baci e a presto

Make it ! Knitted triangular scarf !!!

Last December, I saw a very simple and cute scarf knitted by Angie ( le monde de sucrette) and I thought to knit one for me, too, but then I was busy with the gifts to prepare for family and friends back in Italy .... so nothing was done for me!!! Luckily, some days ago, while browsing through my blogs list, I found a post from Ilaria ( IDA interior lifestyle) , who was proposing the same (she added a pompom!) piece of clothing .... I didn't have any excuse to wait longer for knitting my own triangular scarf!!!! ;oD So, I started .... Do you want to start one, too ??? Well, you need : some yarn ! My personal choice was : Lana Grossa Basics Calmo (59% acrylic, 24% cotton and 17% linen), shade 207. All my 4 balls of yarn (50g each) have been used for this project. Then 2 balls (50g each) from Rowan Classic Cotton Jeans Yarn (100% cotton), shade 365-Sierra, for both stripes and tassels! a pair of 4,5mm  knitting circular needles or, if you prefer, a pair of long strai

Make it ! The Granny Bunny !!!

You know, this picture from my  Instagram feed  has collected more than 900 likes ... ... and a colourful crocheter named Karin @woolfieber , made her own version just looking at my pic (you can find her work  HERE  ) !!!! My idea, since the beginning , was to prepare a photo tutorial for you, but do you really need one ? These Granny Bunnies are so easy to crochet, believe me !!!! YOU NEED : some colourful mercerised cotton a 3,5 mm hook a pair of scissors a tapestry needle beads for embellishments (optional) Please note that I follow the US crochet terminology, thank you ! Each bunny measures 13 cm in height and it can be used for different purposes : bunting, hanging decorations, appliques, brooches, on napkin rings and more !!!! The sky's the limit !!!
