Beauty is where you find it #38 : halloween!!!!

Some pics of the kids' carved pumpkins....

Today's link : Beauty is where you find it #38 !!!

Make it! A crochet bracelet with simple embroidery!

It has been a long time since my last tutorial (here)....Sorry, girls!!!
The fact is that I didn't know what to "show&tell" you, but luckily few days ago I found a crochet bracelet, that I started before the summer holidays and I decided to complete this simple task!!!

You will need:

  • a 5 mm hook
  • a ball of yarn (cotton, acrylic, ...) in the colour you prefer
  • colourful rayon threads
  • a pair of metallic snaps
  • some cotton (to match with the bracelet) for attaching the snaps
  • a pair of scissors
  • a tape measure marked in centimeters
  • a colourful button (optional) as decoration
  • a sewing needle
This project requires basic crocheting knowledge!!!

Crochet know-how (American terminology):

  • slipknot
  • chain stitch
  • double crochet
  • bind off
  • trim in ends
Let's start!!!!

Grab your hook and the ball of yarn (or some yarn leftovers!!)

With the tape measure your wrist. Mine is 16 cm, so I decided to chain a cord of 22cm (33 stitches), more or less, because I wanted one end of the cuff to overlap a little the other end.
I've crocheted two rows in double crochet stitch. Then, I binded off and trimmed the ends in.
When I decided to do this bracelet, I also sewn on a big button (2,5cm in diameter), because I had a different idea about the closure. Now it works only as a decoration, so I suggest you, if you really like the button option, to wait at the end of the work to sew it on!!
So this is the result:

At this point, you can collect the pair of metallic snaps

You have to sew one of the snaps on the same side of the plastic button (front side of the bracelet), but on the other end

once you have done with this, you can sew the other one , on the other end (under the plastic button), that is the inner side of the bracelet

At this point the bracelet is completed, if you have even finished to sew the last snap on!

...but we go further....

Collect the rayon threads, a needle and the scissors

Choose the first colour to use and thread the strand (I use it double) and fix it in the inner side of the bracelet, along one row

Above photos résumé : you insert the needle in one stitch from right to left. You continue to pull the needle and make it pass in the loop forming on the right side. Pull till the end and you'll have secure the thread with a knot! Ok? I hope so! ;oD

Now, pass the needle from the back to the front side

Your thread is on the other side now (turn your bracelet!), close to the snap

We can start the embroidery!! This time I preferred to use a simple stitch like the running stitch. Obviously, you can choose even a different stitch or more than one! You could use even different threads, beads, buttons, sequins or whatever your fantasy suggests you!!!
So, I started with the running stitch

and I completed the first row with it, as you can see

After knotting and cutting the excess of thread, repeat the same thing with the other colour you've chosen

and around my wrist....

What do you think? I love the idea that the bracelet is made with simple crochet stitches and that the embroidery itself is really basic!! Simple things are the best and they give you such big satisfaction!!

I'm leaving you with 2 more pictures

Emma and Elizabeth (and Tilly!!)....

In this short post (here), I did show you just a picture of these hearts (tutorial via Bunny Mummy)

....but, as usual, I took some more.... ;oD......

I was crocheting these hearts, because of a little girl, born at the beginning of October (here)!!!!

Today, I finally finished and wrapped the hearts garland...

....and a pair of knitted (first time ever!!!!) bootees....

The pattern for these was found on the book "First Knits" by Luise Roberts and Kate Haxell !!!!

I added even a couple of gifts for Emma, the sweet and witty mum, and one for Tilly, the lovely dog of the house!! Sorry, but I'll not show you the presents for Emma, because I don't want to spoil completely the surprise....

...so, everything is ready to leave Jakarta and to reach England....I wish in a very short time!!!!

Really hope you'll be happy girls!!! ;oD
