Triangles for my next shawl : update!!!

"Just a bunch of triangles…."  this was the title of my last post about the triangles I started to crochet following this Danish pattern….

….but, right now, I have a nice pile of them….

….obviously, I still have some work to do, but I wanted to share with you the translation I made from the original pattern !!!
Maybe, you'll be tempted to crochet a shawl, too!!!

I'm using a 3,5mm hook and this is what I crochet for each triangle (please, remember that I use US crochet terms! thank you!) :
  • make a slip knot and chain 4. Make a slip stich in the fourth chain from the hook, so to form a ring
  •  round 1 :I prefer to start with chain 3 (= first Double Crochet) and then crochet 10 DCs. Close the round with a slip stitch in the top of your first stitch.
  •  round 2 : chain 3 (= first DC), chain 6, 4 DCs, chain 6, 4 DCs,  chain 6 and 3 DCs. Close the round with a slip stitch.
  •  round 3 : chain 3, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch , 4 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch, 4 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch and 3 DCs.  Close the round with a slip stitch.
  •  round 4 : chain 3, 3 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch, 10 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch, 10 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch and 6 DCs. Close the round with a slip stitch.
  •  round 5 : chain 3, 6 DCs, (3DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch, 16 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch, 16 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch and 9 DCs. Close the round with a slip stitch.
  •  round 6 : chain 3, 9 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch, 22 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch, 22 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch and 12 DCs. Close the round with a slip stitch.
  • round 7 : chain 3, 12 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch, 28 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch, 28 DCs, (3 DCs, chain 6, 3 DCs) around the arch and 15 DCs. Close the round with a slip stitch and fasten off.
You can adjust the pattern as you like.
I never start a round with a DC (as, instead, stated in the original pattern), but I prefer to chain 3 !
About the arch of 6 chains : I crochet 5 chains instead of 6 and I think I'll prefer to crochet 4 next time/shawl!

If you would like to make this shawl, you need to know that you have to crochet 49 triangles in total.
There are some tassels to make, too. The pattern suggests 15 of them, each made with 17 threads long 26 cm (before folding and trimming them, if I have understood correctly!!!!).

I have 25 triangles done ( the 26th is still on the hook!)…..

Have fun !!!!

Sharing an useful tip....

.....While looking at the pics of my pink triangle , I've noticed something not pleasant about the way the stitches were joined together  at the end/beginning of each row..... but I was not the only one, luckily!!!

A new visitor (Hi Brenda!) left a note in the comment box :

I follow your blog and love it! You do such great, colorful crochet.

But, I wonder if you have ever tried this technique to hide your beginning stitch in each round. http://speckless.wordpress.com/2012/09/25/bridging-a-gap-when-you-join-rounds/
This is not my blog but just a helpful way to hide that chain at the beginning of the rows or rounds.

Keep up the great work, I love following your blog

Being a curious person (!!!!), I had a look to the link suggested by Brenda (now is pinned on my Crochet board!!!) ..... it helped me a lot with my second attempt, as you can see....

Better, eh????

I really appreciate these kind of advice ! So do not hesitate to give more help in the future!!!!
I love to improve my work and to learn something new and useful!!!!
Thank you Brenda and Heidi !!!!!!

So, obviously, I started to crochet a triangle for my shawl....

....and yes, another one is on the way !!!!!

Happy and proud of myself!!!!

HAPPY because I can continue (after a long summer break!) to crochet my colourful blanket ....

...if you are new around here, maybe you'll be interested to know more about this blanket (herehereherehere and here !) and the pattern I'm following !!!! Be curious and have fun!!!!

PROUD because of a silly thing!!!
Yesterday I was browsing (not only yesterday, anyway!!!!) on Pinterest and I decided to find a nice pattern to crochet a shawl and BAM! I found it!!! Look HERE !!!!

I love everything about it : the simplicity, the colours, the tassels, the size of the solid triangles, the pattern....oh well, the pattern is written in Danish....!!!!!!
This fact didn't stop me!!! This morning, infact, I went on internet and on Google I tried to find the translation for Danish crochet terms....but I did not have such luck in finding something useful!
So, I went back to the original pattern and with the help of some zooming in the pictures and keeping the numbers written in the pattern as a kind of guidance I ......DID IT !!!!!!!

This is the crocheted proof :

I've used a 5,5mm hook and my Indonesian acrylic yarn (always good for testing!) and the sides of the triangle measures about 29cm, while from the base to the vertex the size is 25cm !

.....so, I'm pretty ready for starting my shawl now (right now?)....
I have the yarn and all that I need....

....NOTHING (and NO ONE!!!) can stop me !!!!! YEAH!!!!! ;oD
